New Podcast : Role of self-awareness in decision-making
The CFL shared the new podcast episode on ‘Role of self-awareness in decision-making' featuring Tierza Watts, director of the Center for Leadership. Tierza shares her experiences, values and how being self-ware shape one's decision-making processes.
Tierza shared many practical insights, especially on ways to become self-aware. One of them is understanding oneself well, and she talks about the use of the MBTI test (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator). Through the MBTI test, one can gain a better understanding of themselves and reflect on situations that make them comfortable or uncomfortable.
The perspectives of others can also be helpful in navigating the decision-making process. Tierza shared that because people tend to get stuck in situations, it is typically good to welcome views from peers and others. These views might give you fresh ideas or ways to relook at situations and help you solve problems faster and more effectively.
Tierza also emphasized the importance of DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) in student lives. She recommended reading books about histories that are not one's own. By reading these books, one can gain a better understanding of other people's identities, which in turn helps in understanding oneself better and ways to effectively engage with diversity
